Daddy's Boy

The master of the road!

Ian has been watching youtube videos of mountain bike trials (This one specifically: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYIKfEU8yl8) and was asking me if I could teach him how to jump off a tree.  "Well," I replied, "you need to learn to ride the bike first, then I'll teach you to jump".

In the past, he has been paranoid to have me let him go solo, so on March 7th I took off his pedals so it essentially a "kick bike".  It was nice that the pedals didn't consistently hit him in the back of his legs when he put his feet down to stop.  With in 30 minutes he was able to push his bike up the street, coast down the sidewalk and turn up our driveway.  Because Saturday was a busy day I didn't have a chance to put his pedals back on.

Sunday morning Ian woke up and wanted to immediately ride his bike, but we told him after church he can go coast it around.  Finally, after church he convinced me to put his pedals back on.  I suggested that I push him up the street, so that he could get used to the idea of coasting with his feet on pedals, breaking, etc.  He looked and me and said, "just push me".  So I did.  And off he rode.

This video is about 5 minutes after I put the pedals back on his bike.  I think we went on 3 Sunday "walks" that day to keep him happy.

Monday morning, Ian jumped out of bed and was riding his bike as I drove off to work at 7 am.  The Sun still hadn't poked its head above the mountains.

Oh ya, I almost forgot, I pulled out the board for a jump on Monday too!  Now he is jumping about 3 feet!
